Ferrante Winery Featured in March/April Vineyard & Winery Management

The story of Ferrante Winery & Ristorante in northeastern Ohio's Grand River Valley is one of a successful family winery now in its third generation. The story also illustrates the evolution and success of the Ohio wine industry, which was the largest in the nation prior to the Civil War, and now boasts more wineries than any other Midwestern state (excluding Texas), at over one hundred.(/br> Over three generations, Ferrante winery has evolved from production dominated by labrusca varieties, to French hybrids, to today when vinifera production is expanding to meet consumer demand for dry wines, a trend seen elsewhere in the state. Near Cincinnati, Kinkead Ridge Vineyards has been producing exclusively vinifera wines since 2002, a bold move for a winery in a state known for its sweet tooth.
